Help building portable studio (MPC/ProTools)...

What's up everyone? I wanna get all opinions on ProTools (Digi 002 & 001
models respectively) using Mac & PC laptops. I am looking to put a portable studio together ASAP that is compatible with most professional recording studios who if they're worth their weight, have a MPC 2000xl.

Ideally I wanna record at home, then take the disc/drive to the studio, dump & mix. Please tell me what other hardware/software/accessories I need to achieve this goal as well as other helpful websites.

ok i have a mbox with my laptop and i can do what you want to do i also have a jl cooper cs32 midi controler its cool. first of all the 001 will not work with a lap top cause it has a pci card or interface what ever. the 002 will work with a lap top but it has a fire wire thingy so your lap top must have a fire wire port or your gona have to buy a fire wire card bus. thats your choices but digi design says buy a harddrive for audio only or dont share the system harddrive with pro tools but if you get a western digital ex hard drive you can just take that with you and hook it up when you get to the studio you need to go.

A laptop with an external hard drive, external sound box tend to make it not so portable. Might as well carry a whole PC.

I suggest something like the Akai DPS16. Always boots, never gets virii, no software conflicts. Self contained recording, editing, mastering unit. I do all my work, even buring the audio master, on the DPS. If you are not too keen on editing on the DPS, you can burn the recorded audio to wav files for import on the PC/Mac back at home.

Best of all, it is even cheaper than a laptop. It is way cheaper than that Digi002 interface (and the Digi requires a computer in addition to itself).

THE MBOX works well with a mac g3, I have a buddy who has the mbox pack, basically with the mbox, a controller and a bag with space for all the gear, some mic's and a laptop, its pretty cool and he does it like you were talking, does his work then goes into the studio, tranfers it to the protools rig they got, uses their rig to complete the mix then has 'em master it for him.

I dunno, I would rather have a desktop pc, just for the security of having all my gear in one place, and not run the risk of losing some of it, but that's just me. on a side note, the digi 002 works real nice with the mac.....

Go with the DPS 16 by akai. Simple, Cheap, decent efx, and portable. Do your thing on the DPS 16 then save your project in a wav file on CD. Take the CD to any sudio With Protools and BAM there go all of your indvidual tracks right before your eyes.

-Will the tracks play back perfectly synced?
-Will I have the maximum bit rate/mhz from DPS16 disc to ProTools?
