Poor sound quality !

Hello,

I recently bought an AKAI MPC-60 kmII.
When I sample a record and I play the sample on the MPC it sounds pretty crappy,
but I guess that's normal because the sound quality changes to 12 bit and 40 kHz.

But also the volume is much lower then when I sampled it. Is that normal too ?
And yes I've put the recording gain on HI.


Can anyone help me out ?

First off, why would you get a 60 if you wanted good sound quality?

Secondly, is the turtable plugged directly into the mpc or is there some sort of phono pre amp between them?

Turntable goes in Mixer and then in MPC. No pre amp.
Should I buy one ?

Mixer is the pre. Try sampling at the medium setting.

Try sampling at the medium setting and watch the monitor you have inside the 60 before you actually sample, make sure its almost in the red.

I tried it but it's the same. And I don't think that the mixer works as a pre-amp.
When I put my volume level on the mixer on about 50% (on channel 1, Turntable)
and sample something, the volume is a bit lower when I listen to it throughout the mixer (on channel 2, MPC) at also 50% volume level.

Is that normal or not ??

whats the input meter reading on the mpc?
