I can't get past the annoying words and vocals to Hood Hop... Or the fact that he eats a bowl of cereal to make him look gangsta in the video... By the way, when did that become a move in video's today... Jim Jones does it in the video to his corny a$$ rip-off to Eazy E's "Crusin in my '64"...
He eats a bowl of cereal right in the camera's face... J-Kwon does it in his video and I've seen it in a few others...

Since when did cereal eatin become gangsta... Sh*t my 12 year old brother is gangsta as sh*t then....

The fact that you would admit to liking any part of that song makes me laugh....

Sad...

ha ha. Matt you are an ignorant f*ck. But I was the same way when I was your age, so I won't hold it against you too much.

Why do you say he is ignorant?J-Kwon is a cornball and it's a shame that he even has a deal. That kid is garbage, straight up.

i havent seen or heard any of the songs you dudes are talkin bout, since i usually dont listen to much of that "hood hop" or whatever you guys are calling it... but the bit about eating cereal caught my eye!
shit is funny, Kool Keith always says people are biting his ish... i remember the video for Keiths "Plastic World" off of the Sex Style album, Keith was eating cereal while rhyming in it! shit was mad funny, i mean he was actually busting rhymes WHILE eating cereal, ish was runnin all out his mouth and down his chin while he was rhyming and spooning the next bite in his mouth  that ish was hilarious... if youve never seen this video check for it when you get a chance, its guaranteed to have you rolling... if the cereal part doesnt, the Michael Jackson impersonator will  anyways, just thought id comment...

hey Mattmatiks,

whats your take on the Ghostface track "Holla"? Ghost didnt do ish to that Delfonics track, just rhymed over it, vocals and all! i think its hot myself...
its funny though, on the album Ghost gets production credit for that track...
i like it, just wondering what you think of it...
Ghost is supposed to be down with the Delfonics on a personal level though i thought... it would probably be corny if someone besides Ghostface tried that ish with that track...

I was gonna post that about Ghostface. For production tools he should just have put, "Delfonics LP and a turntable'. I mean he could have at least used the instrumental.

And I bet you hear at least 5 other people do that before the years out!

I respect Ghostface for doin that because he was goin for a real real old school vibe on that album.... You gotta understand his vision to understand that album.... He took all famous Soul 45s and sh*t and just straight looped em the way cats in the park would do back in the day... Most of that album has been sampled 1000 times and it was straight looped for his sh*t...

Like I said you gotta understand what he was tryin to do... He was tryin to bring hip-hop back to it's early days with that album...

ghost always just rocks loops, the theodore unit album has mad shit that has already been looped too...

I'm saying that because we're all producers of music here, not just fans or easier listeners or whatever. So if you can't find ANYTHING to like about a hit song that lots of people like to listen to, just because it doesn't fit your niche of what is cool or not, then your working as a fan and not as a producer. I'm a fan too but on another level I'm a musician.

So you know if you want to make fun of the fans of Tipsy, that's ok. It's top 40 hood music. But I think its kind of young and idealistic to TOTALLY discredit/ disregard a HIT song.

Just my 2cents.

Well what I said was just my two cents... I think it's ignorant that you think I'm ignorant for givin my opinion...

Wasn't you pointin out my ignorance an opinion... You believed me to be ignorant... That's an opinion...

So you're allowed to give your opinion, but I'm not allowed to bring forth mine.... Just tryin to understand teh though process here...

And my age has nothing to do with this... Cause I'm apparently younger than you and basically just explained that if I'm immature for givin my opinion than you are guilty of the same crime...

I don't know. This sh!t is either too deep or too stupid for me to understand. Here's a recap:

Because your young you don't know sh!t about everything. You know what you like, you know what is cool, what is not cool but you don't know yet that you can learn something sh!t from anything. Just for a HW assignment why don't you pick up a Carpenter's CD and then (if you haven't gone mad yet) find something to like about it. Its got sugary sweet catchy melodies. Not cool. But still a high level of MUSICIANSHIP went into making it. People that knew their craft and were talented MUSICIANS. You're not at that level yet. Which is cool. I wasn't there when I was your age. You probably know more sh!t about music than I did when I was your age. Your doing the right thing by talking about it and learning more. Cool. But don't go around dissing people for talking about MUSIC.

On some level maybe it is all just an opinion. I don't know. You could argue that Jimi Hendrix couldn't play guitar, that Run DMC was no less talented than J-wan. But you'd have a tough time winning those arguments. That's because some arguments hold more merit than others.
Work on your philosophy. Keep growing, learning. And don't diss me for talking music. Peace.

Dude you're contradicting yourself...

Don't diss you for talkin music????

What'd you do to me... I talked about J-Kwon and you said I was ignorant...

By the way, while the Carpenters thing was a nice example (I do appreciate the Carpenters, by the way... They have good melodies... Not something I could isten to all the time, but if my mom's listenin to them in the car I might listen...) it kinda doesn't apply here...

The Carpenters were musicians.... J-Kwon can't rhyme or talk of anything of substance... The producers who did the beat took the grindin drums and put a sh*tty corny synth on top of it... Where is the musicianship in that???

This is my opinion, but it's supported by facts... Those are the Grindin drums... And that was a really basic synth line...

I respect where your comin from, but don't talk down to me cause I have a strong opinion about music... I have the right to express that opinion and I did....

As far as my age, that really has sh*t to do with anything and I'm tired of hearin it on these boards...

I don't know sh*t about everything

Funny I dont remember claiming that....

Also, you said I'm not at that level yet...

Funny, I also don't remember you knowing me personally or their being a level by which we're all judged for our exceptance of music .... I'm at level 3... Which level you on???

You think you know me because of one post you read where I commented on my opinion of a song....

So who's immature??? Me for havin an opinion.... Or you for judging me based on that opinion and then acting like you know what level of maturity I'm at based on one post you read...

Seems like you got some growin up to do homes...
