MPC5000 reviews, bug reports and fellow user support on the most recent standalone, hardware MPC from Akai

Im messing with making my own keygroup programs. I was looking thru the loopmasters site that the MPC gets its preloaded sounds from...
lots of "loops" which I don't really think are fun... I am into the idea of making my OWN loops via sampling or synth or whatever. But where do you guys like to get kits for your MPC? I mean, I like to think of it as primarily a DRUM sequencer but I guess I don't know shit. And, if I am shopping around, can I only buy stuff that's specifically formatted as "MPC"? The stuff in it now (stock) is all .wav it seems like, so wouldn't that work as well? I looked at the formats that the MPC uses from the OTHER MPC's but nothing about what I can download and put on there myself...

I am probably getting a turntable soon, so I plan on chopping up some of my own samples for my own autoload.

Anything wisdom you guys have to impart would be much appreciated!

To be clear:

I'm looking for stuff that would be considered essential. I like to think of it as ONE drum kit that I know how to tweak to my liking. Obviously, no-one can tell me what kit to play, I just want to know where there's a good place to find stuff that is quality. I don't want to download a ton of shit and use it as a crutch. Hell, some of the more experienced MPC users might even think that the preloaded kits are more than enough to work with.

There's a sample function on your mpc
That's where you get your drums from
I guess if your into it an 808 kit?

There's an 808 on it. I have yet to purchase a turntable, and I have no Vinyl. So until then, to tide me over, whatever other people dig on I might dig on too.

So many ways to get drums. Sample some records / breaks being the most favored around here probably. But you can peep these places.

Word to the wise though. learn to layer your drums you may even try to compress them shits and make em bang in some cases.
