akai s900 omniflop

Hey does anyone use the program omniflop to write files to floppy disk for the akai s900 sampler? I have successfully loaded the OS 4 for the s900 to disk using OMNIFLOP however I cant seem to be able to write WAV samples to floppy. If anybody knows how to do this I would greatly appreciate hearing about it. I just want to be able to load up some drum wavs off my computer and save them to floppy on my comp and then put the disk in the s900 and load up the sounds. Thanks for your time.

well why not run the sound output from the computer and sample it into the 900? that will take more advantage of the awesome sound the 900 has.

I dont get why people even buy samplers if all they want to do is load stuff via file transfers anyways... not directing that right at you but a lot of people have the same question around here and it makes me wonder if they even know they own a sampler.

i was thinking the same exact thing after reading not one but 2 threads regarding the same topic here... the whole point of buying a used s900 or s950 is to record into it's internal memory so that is actually uses it's internal A/D converters which give the sample that particular 12bit sound. just simply trying to load a 16bit sample into it isn't the way to go about using one of these samplers AT ALL. that's like buying bagged ice and trying to fit the cubes into an empty ice tray...

agreed 100% ... or buying a six-four and replacing the engine with a honda civic 4 cylinder.

A/D D/A converters... meh I like my MIDI converters just fine thank you very much

I find sending samples through MIDI gives it that extra deep sound you can't get by going through those garbage audio converters.

well that's why we always suggest that the new cats read the manual and pick up a nice pair of midi headphones.

Just tried to google midi headphones... I'm surprised nobody has made a GM pair of headphones with a MIDI IN port.

I was more joking though, because with the S900/S950 at least you can actually digitally transfer samples over midi... slow as hell to dump 720kb of memory though. And using 16-bit samples to do this, of course the software has to convert it down to 12-bit anyways... so kind of missing at least one point. Though as a way to skip floppies (or avoid replacing one) I suppose it is possible.

lol, i know... midi headphones is sort of a joke around here... it is usually brought up when people dont know why they are getting no sound from their keyboards midi'd to their mpc.

yeah... I think I knew what MIDI was at a young enough age, and forums weren't around that it never really confused me .
