Yeah, pretty messed up situation all in all.

One thing I wouldn't do is rely on email contact though. There has to do be a phone number you can call to speak to someone direct?

Chances are, it won't be Akai themselves doing the fix. I bet they'll have you send it to a authorized repair facility, unless they plan on giving you a replacement.

I hear you man!!! You spend ALOT OF HARD EARNED MONEY on a product to make beats and it just doesnt work right!!! That is ridiculous!!! Akai needs to stop being cheap and make some more QUALITY MPCs like the 3000 and 4000!!!!!

ritec,

are you in the states or overseas? Reason I ask is because if your overseas, perhaps the akai cant handle the type of voltage they use overseas? IM clueless when it comes to voltage types, just speculating...

Thanks for the support guys... I am in New York city so the voltage is not the problem, bad electronics design is the problem.

Yesterday I switched the AC/DC converter for a brand new one and unfortunately that did not work either which means the backlight in the lcd is just burned. Now someone told me backlights are pretty easy to fix so I might try that next. if that does not work then I will have to buy a new LCD for $200 shoot myself in the foot and sell this **** things cause I don't want to deal with it anymore.

I feel like going to the next winter namm and yelling in the microphone AKAI sucks.

Wow, I didn't know it was that bad with these numark mpc's. I wish you the best on getting that joint fixed though.

So I reokaced the ccfl light on the mpc since it does not turn on and that is what is causing the LCD to not have a backlight and it still did not work.... I am officially giving up on this and going back to the mpc2500. I will be selling this baby for $1,400 without a backlight should be an easy fix if you know what you are doing I am halfway there but I've spent way too much time on this and I don't want to have anything else to do with this machine.

so 1,400 takes it, works perfectly well except for the backlight on the LCD.

I use 5k's I suspect user abuse. Stop bashing the 5k. Most of us read just blazes comments on the first gen OS and he was right. But really, do you leave it on for weeks? Spill a drink? Beat the ish outta your pads.? Evaluate through a logical sequence of events leading up to the fault. Then assume a conclusion.

That's what I said. Leaving equipment on 24/7 can't be good nowadays.
