60 GAVE ME THIS ERROR MESSAGE!!!NEED HELP!!!

I SPENT A LONG TIME MAKING A DRUM KIT 2DAY ON A FLOPPY DISK...IT WORKED FINE ALL DAY WHEN I LOADED AND SAVED IT AS I SHUTDOWN AND TURNED BACK ON THE 60...I TRY to load my program file JUST NOW AND IT READS...

this file is internally corrupted and cant be loaded its internal type ID doesnt match its 3letter name extension

now i have to load each sound individually and map em to the pads!!!!!!on top of that 5 sounds were corrupted too!!!whats going on and can i fix this?not even my backup copy works it says the same thing

I´ve had the same problem couple of times and I didn´t find out any solution. You just have to sample those sounds again. Sorry. try something.

Clean you floppy with a cleaning disk from radio shack.

Try some other disks, out of like 40 new MF2DD-disks which I bought earlier this year for my MPC60, 3 or 4 simply gives me trouble. Don't know why, but I don't use them. All other disks work.

If you have access to a PC with a floppy use MPC Editor to recreate the program file and save it to your HD as a backup. Then rewrite the program and samples to your floppy and try to load it again after you clean your drive in the MPC. I recommend using a PC with Win98 or getting a USB floppy that will format 720kb disks.

I don't think the MPC will read PC formatted floppies, will it? It didn't for me.

Yeah some disks are bunk, but yeah, you gotta run the cleaner a bunch of times.

The MPC file system is compatible with PC file system. I think both are FAT file system. I know this to be true for MPC60 software version 3.10e, I can't validate this for earlier versions. It is a bit tricky to get a Windows XP PC to read and format 720kb disks. Win98 however works fine. Leave it up to Microsoft to complicate things by not supporting 720kb disk formating in Win XP. An easy solution for XP is to get a USB floppy that will write and read 720kb disks. I found a good one at buy.com -> http://www.yedata.com/products/floppydrives/usb2x.shtml

Ah, good to know. I have 3.10e as well. But now I rock XP. I can't remember trying a win formatted 720 disk in the MPC, so I'll take your word for it.

even if you use an external floppy drive via USB, it is still running under WINXP... when you install Windows you usually have a choice of FAT32 or NTFS... am i missing something? more info would be great... Elmacaco, let me know if you come across any thing that will help...

Yeah man, I just got XP and am using zip disks with Mike's MPC Editor's 3000 XP Zip format.

I was able to export a PGM from the MPC Editor to 3 Floppies formatted in the 60 with no problems under XP. I upgraded from 98 so I'm pretty sure I'm still on a FAT system, and not NTFS.

fobe, what do you need to do? I just got the USB floppy since XP does not support formatting 720kb disks without it.

It is no problem to format a 720k floppy disk under XP.

Assuming your floppy disk drive is "a:"

Drop down to a prompt in XP.

IE: from the prompt, RUN "CMD".

At the prompt type:

format a: /f:720

Assuming your disk drive isn't faulty the disk will format fine.
