MPC and a sampler together

I would say there are two main reasons people buy a sampler to go along with an MPC. The first is because you need more sample manipulation capabilities. The MPCs (except for the JJ OS ones) are very basic samplers and not much can be done with a sample after its in the box. The second is buying a classic piece for its gritty/grimy sound qualities. Then there's the other stuff like live gigging considerations, having more sample time, etc.

What you do and how you do it is totally up to you. I would say that if you're just starting out, you're prolly gonna wanna try some gear out, just to find the piece that works best for you. So get your ebay account in order, and line up a psychiatrist because gearlust is hard to shake...

Not sure if you checked it out yet, but if the manual isn't doing it for you have you considered Tutor's 2000xl book? It's written in a more relatable style, not like the technical style of the manual. There's also audio examples for every tip and trick. If you're feeling overwhelmed by the manual and machine itself you should check it out.

Some people like the way the ASR samples, chops, and manipulate samples versus the MPC, but at the same time they like the MPC's sequencer. So combining the two makes a better sampler/sequencer for versus using one for both.

I was under that influence at one time, but I think my stay in this stuff is losing its momentum.

Now I want to drop 4-5 g's on a supercharger kit for the ride since this is where my heart is at the moment.

It's the rush you get when somebody trys to take you on (with the racing) and you play the **** outta them knowing it ain't sh!t they can do.

Is it not a smart idea to get one without the IB 109 expansion scsi? Or just stick to floppys?
