8) 8) I've read a ton of shit on this thread and the site altogether about the ASR, and I've done a bunch of searching on gearslutz. Definitely excited to go oldschool! I have Maschine now and I'm just not happy with the way my drums are sitting. I can tell the ASR is going to stress me out though, but I'm willing to learn. My next purchase after the asr is a 2000xl for my drum sequencing.

ASR 10 on its way :D It comes with SCSI, but I don't know which storage method to use. Can anyone suggest something? Should I get a zip drive off ebay?

Everything that's new doesn't necessarily mean it's the best. At times, I think a lot of the better pieces of gear has already come & gone.

Most of the new stuff being put out now-a-days gives one a feeling of trial & error. It's a hit or miss scenario with this sh!t, unless you've done your homework and can seperate the good from the bad.

That's why I've held on to my ASR for the last 13 or so years.

get a iomega zip (selectable, and with termination)

if you outgrow it, get a card reader or a hard drive.

It depends on the drive... Zip 250 uses 250MB & 100MB discs; Zip 100 only uses 100MB discs.

Get with SCSIforsamplers. I believe thier card readers have been tested and work on the ASR.

hmmm i got a couple of decisions to make regarding my ASR10. I'm trying to sell my NI Maschine and somebody said theyd give me $500 for it. So I owe my mom like $100 since she fronted me for the asr ( gotta love moms!) I'll have $400 left. Now I could buy a 2000xl for my dads house which housed the Maschine (which will now be instrument-less ) and have to use great computer speakers for my asr (which is what i've been using all along) or I could spend the $400 on add ons for the asr like a card reader, possibly some krk 5's? IDK guyys ive got some thinkin' to do!

Man, Id say rock the computer speakers. Blockhead makes his beats with an old gemini turntable and a small CD player/tape/fm radio Iowa speaker setup that probably costs 200 new (back in the day)

Get the xl if your hell bent on spending all your money... but if your board has scsi, then make sure you at least got a zip.
