I have just acquired an MPC 2000XL w/ 8 outs and 32 mbs of memory and. it. is. AWESOME. Recently I had a few problems trying to set up my Gemini Turntable, which is a joke.. i know.. but it gets the job done, to my mpc. I think my set up is still a little shaky right now, so let me go in detail about it (maybe my problems in my hardware) I have my MPC-2kXL with one mono and one stereo RCA-> 1/4 that is connected to the record outs of my Numark M2 mixer, with a single turntable connected to the phono-in of channel 1. Now on the Sample screen of my MPC-2kXL, the LEVEL MONITOR displays the R dominating the L channel and my first part of this question is, is there anyway to make them equal (L/R Channels)? Secondly, when I press Record [F6], it records and when it finishes and the sample is played back [F3] the sample sounds PERFECT. The problem comes when I save the sample to a pad. When I save it to a pad then press Main Screen and press that same pad, the sample is either sped up, or slow-ed down a lot (without me having anything to do with it) and I cannot work with the variation slider to slow it down or speed it up to make the sample sound like it did when I first recorded it. When I re-record the sample, or record a different sample, and get ready to assign it to a pad and press the same pad that the first sample was on, the first sample sounds like there are no effects on it, but the minute I save it my second sample to an unused pad and go back to the main screen, the first and second sample are tweaked again (when they just sounded normal two seconds ago.)
Bottom line is.. After I've recorded and assigned my sample to a pad and press main screen, the sample sounds like I tweaked it when I didn't. Why? is there a setting that I have to change? or do I have to accept that I cannot record Vinyl samples on my MPC because the sampling feature is fuceked up. Or is it because I pressed something when I shouldn't have? I'm very puzzled.
