Is this MPC60 any good? Advice needed

Hi to all ,
found this one on Ebay.... expanded memory , ZIP drive , but its in the US ....
i am in France... donno how to ship it to France on the cheap ?

Also i would need a bulky 220v to 110v converter?

what do u guys think about it... how is the screen - is this is the way the new MPC60 screen should look like, what about the absent side panels ...
what should i still check before bidding on it?

sorry for my ignorance i never seen a real MPC60 live ... so i might miss out on something to check...

Yeah you probably need to use a transformer with it. But it doesn't use much power so the transformer could be fairly cheap and small.

The unit looks in pretty good shape .
Appears to have a good screen and backlight
A bit Ghetto around the ventilation grill and the missing side panels. You could always make some wooden side panels and apply a little paint around the grill if it bothers you.

The Zip drive, if it's a newer one, may have a multi voltage power supply. All you would need to do is change the plug.
If it's an older one (wall wart type power supply) it may need a further transformer or to be replaced.

Ask the seller questions about it if you are unsure.
Make sure the buttons all work ok.
They may need more than one push or a harder push on a unit that old. This is pretty normal so as long as they do function don't worry too much.

Bear in mind this is a 20 year old machine and most probably well used.

just make sure your power converter has a higher wattage then the MPC needs.

Since you are in France, it may be cheaper for you to find a MPC on one is the European eBay sites. The shipping quote is probably a legit UPS quote. It may be cheaper to send via EMS however the seller may not be eligible for Papal seller protection so they may not want to ship any other way.

If you can be patient, these come up pretty often for sale.

hmmm, how come some Ebay sellers quoted the shipping for MPC60 / 3000 about 150$ to FRance?

something is wrong here... there must be a cheaper alternative than 350$ shipping with UPS --- i just cannot believe they would charge THAT much??!!

how heavy is MPC60/3000 and how much duty tax will one pay in Europe when getting it from the US?

anyone had any experiece buying MPC's from US for use in Europe?

and it's way easier for him to just sell it to local US

Ooh! Nearly forgot, Ask him what OS it is running as this will have quite a bearing on the value.
I think the latest OS is 3.10 and it makes a lot of difference to the machine.
If it has an older OS, it is still quite useable but. it would cost you 2 or 3 hundred dollars to upgrade it.
