do they talk about JJOS when they are talking about the 1000 or 2500? I never been to a guitar center before... just curious, because from my understanding installing the JJOS voids the warranty.

I woulnt hold my breath. I've heard that the 5000 has a different source code than the 1000 and 2500 and that JJ doesnt have that code to manipulate.

jep it s a different maschine ...i bet it shares the same engine with alesis fusion...
so maybe someone at alesis gonna quit his programming job , start a internet site, call his self aj, and start to program a new OS for the mpc 5000...

how do you guys know he is talking about the 5000 and not the 500? thread says 500. I would say that is more likely then the 5000 to be honest because I believe the 500 architecture is closer to the 1000/2500 then the 5k is.

But a jjos would be neat for the 500 though however I dont know how they would get some features packed in that with the small screen.

On the 500, always trim mode like on the 1k/2.5k

plus there is probably room for some workflow changes. The shift button could be abused to good effect as well to make a shortcut mode from many of the existing buttons...

Where there is a will there is a way... I'm just not sure anybody is *that* interested. I'd be the first in line though if the 500 ever got the JJ treatment...

5k would be even more interesting though... that much more screen real estate to put to better use... more power under the hood... who knows what could be exploited there.

There has been a thread or two where a GC salesman uses JJ as an angle to sell the MPC
