I never understood the minnie mouse sped up vocal trends

On the first page you guys make it seem like kanye's beats are "annoying" Would you guys elaborate on which beats you consider annoying? All of his "mickie mouse" vocals all had other elements that matched it perfectly that made it a great beat. How about Harold Melvin and the bluenotes "I miss you" on This Can't Be Life? Through the Wire was a great beat, there was a lot of good chopping going on there. How about the Cause I love You by Lenny williams sample on "I got a love" ALL of these are great beats! Most of kanye's beats are sped up soul records, but if i hear a kanye beat that I hadn't heard before it's easy to pick it out, his style is distinct to me. Even when he produced for drake I knew it was him before actually finding out because i heard 808's & Heartbreak in it.

He uses an ASR, and time-stretching is time consuming on the ASR. So instead of speading it up and maintaining the pitch, he just pitch-shifted the whole sample.
