Question about how a beat was made

I am participating in a battle on another forum and me and the dude I was competing against had to make a beat that was in the style of "rap/rock". Now we both made the beat and they were both pretty dope but dude's beat sounds real inorganic. I was wondering if anyone knows how he made it. I have a suspcion he used some sort of computer program. I have heard all the same sounds before and even the groove sounds like it was pre-made. Is there such a program out there?
