MPCs do not run third party synths or load 3rd party effects.

Sure MPCs can that is why we have 2 to 4 midi ports I do it all the time using soft synths and my old motif. You see it everyday on youtube and most home studios a Roland, Yamaha, or S950 sampler combo with a MPC as master. Duh this is the lame stuff with you never a clue.

Sure Logic can run 3rd party effects, never said MPC did but I can use control change to tweak the effects with my MPC qlink if needed via Midi. Everyone knows that MPC sends audio out from the internal sampler to record and process in your DAW a no brainer. Cmon son this is nonsense.

Neither does Maschine. But they both are MIDI sequencers so you can sequence internal sounds, software instruments, as well as hardware. I can't recall anyone mentioning that Maschine and an MPC is a DAW. You are way off base here.

More of the same as before just to make the arguments for arguments sake. Cmon son this is pointless.

2. Grove Production Studio is just a name. Just like Midi Production Center and Music Production Center. These products spec sheets are basically the same.

First you say the MPC is more advanced now they are the same. Cmon son!

3. This forum is about the products and not what you can and can't do.

Cmon son this aint no Sam Ash center. This is the MPC forum!!!

I am not sure why you worry about what I spend my money on. Also, I don't need a month to figure out if I like a product especially not a sampling drum machine which operates just like all the others over the last decade or so. I bought Maschine, used it, and wrote my review. Its only $600 so it isn't like I wasted life savings. :P

Actually how and where you spend your social security nobody cares!!! Cmon son lets hear some beats instead.

4. Whether JD sampled Maschine's library or just triggered it from his MPC isn't relevant. The fact remains either way, he wasn't using Maschine for anything that it was designed to do. By the way...thanks for pointing out what JD was doing. I just initially glanced at the video and turned it off after hearing the mess coming out my speakers. Anyone taking a closer look at the video can see that he triggered Maschine from his MPC and that he barely even touched Maschine.

Cmon son what is it, you were jabbing about what you didn`t know or just plain clueless which is the case?

5. This is the spec forum. And the truth is, I wouldn't buy an MPC 4000 today nor will I ever use Maschine to do anything more than show other people what it can do..until NI upgrades the OS to make it worth using on a daily basis.

Cmon son until you came to the thread is was comparison of usage, how they handle, and what you can do with them in ORDER TO MAKE MUSIC. And as far as YOU showing people post a link to your music and show them what you are like.

Cmon son you are feeling yourself too much. Maschine wasn`t for you. But I told you that earlier in this very same thread. It was your money, your time, your music. At the end of the day all you can do it look at yourself in the mirror.

Don`t hate the machine, hate the player of it.

Cmon son!! Stop the games and move on.

well what would have interested me is if it had some kind of signature thing or feature that only it has.... some people mentioned that it does absolutely nothing new and it's feature was bringing a bunch of already existing features under one roof or so to speak. Well that is all nice, but when I buy a product I want it to make some kind of sound I wasn't able to make before.

When I research a VST pluggin, one day I grabbed the NI electric piano because I didn't have anything else that made rhodes sounds... the incentive was getting the capability to make songs with rhodes in it.

When I first got my MPC years ago it let me record anything line in and I didn't own a computer interface back then so my sample quality was awful and the mpc not only filled that void but also it let me hit my sounds out in real time where as at that time usb controllers were terrible with latency... you would hit a key and hear the sound a half hour later. the incentive was real time sequencing and being able to record samples in good quality.

zoom h4, when i got this thing... it let me record stereo anywhere I damn well please. the thing that sold me was it was only 300 bucks... most condenser mics cost more then that alone and a pair of mics is even more expensive. So getting that was cool because I record in abandoned tunnels, old condemned breweries and grain elevators... who wants to bring several grand worth of equipment there? And if I did want to... the zoom has two XLR inputs with fantom power. the incentive: getting to record anything anywhere on the cheap and with good results.

catch my drift? the only thing I saw that seemed new with the maschine was turning the 16 pads into a step sequencer.

True not much I can say about that I love my Korg Mono/Poly just for making my own patches.

Like at the beginning of this thread that seems to have gotten lost in the discussion is one of the influences that had me pick up the maschine workflow in the first place was this individual Knocksquared videos very informative at least for me.

It would be nice to see hear what some of you can actually do with your machines (MPC's/ Maschine combo) instead of reading about it!!

The deadline is close (8/8/2010) but may be extended to accommodate more submissions.

Peace out.

You mean I should put down Dragon Quest 9 and make some beats? You've tickled my interest enough and I've had an idea in the back of my head for a while... let me see if I can make the deadline :P

I am only in this thread because no other Machine thread is allowed to exist in the forum. While you may want to discuss how you use Maschine with the MPC 4000, this is the opposite of what this section of the forum is about. There is a dedicated forum for threads on how other pieces of gear co-exist with your MPC and a place to give tips and tricks. Not here.

My comments are about Maschine not being as great as an MPC. There was way too many untruths about Maschine. I quickly cleared them up from the perspective of an MPC user with specifics and much detail. A lot of what I have said can be read in the NI Forum by members who feel the exact same way.

At the end of the day, stay focus on the topic...Maschine vs MPC 4000. The MPC wins hands down.

The common factor in most of closing threads which I wasn't involve in as a matter of fact is You Jah.

Hence you ran here with the same nonsense.

Cmon son you mad I told you not to buy it if you weren't going to put in the work.

Man in the mirror is you you get out what you put in.

Good luck with your next purchase may the cycle continue.

That is incorrect. I haven't posted much in this forum for more than a year. And I mostly participated in two Maschine threads...both of them still open by the way. The only nonsense is you..forever turning a thread about a drum machine into a personal attack. This is what you do. You attack and then play innocent.

Truth be told...I am fairly confident that I am more financially well off than you and don't need your advice on what to buy. I had Maschine ordered before you went and purchased yours...and you never said anything about me not buyng it if I wasn't going to use it fully. Just more stuff that you made up. Its a drum machine. I don't need to put in work. Maschine is nothing extraordinary especially here in the MPC Forum where besides 2 or 3 people....nobody really cares. All the MPC Forums members that use Maschine spend their time in the NI Forums..in feature request threads.

Also...don't worry about my next purchase. It is a $3K plus keyboard workstation that I will address in the appropriate forum. No need to talk about it here in a forum dedicated to drum machines.

I wish you stop talking about man in the mirror because I haven't heard one track from you that couldn't be produced with Garage Band that came bundled with my Mac. :P

Ouch!!!

Why don't you two guys just show us what you can do??

Send me some Japanese beats or let's have a call-out to settle this.

Ultimately what is more important in music production, the tools or the workmanship.....

Askia Shaheed wrote:Nope. I am a registered member of Native Instruments because I owned/own several of their products. I downloaded the manual for 1.5 as soon as it was released. Nothing in the manual has impressed me coming from an MPC background. I am not blowing smoke by the way...American Musical called me minutes ago to confirm that my order has already shipped. I am intelligent enough to read a manual and let you know what a product lacks.

I have seen nearly every NI video on You Tube. I know you like it because you are using it now...which was sort of my point. The forum is filled with too many fan boys that won't come clean. I am not saying you are in the same boat...but then again I am. I am not trying to cause beef. Just to give people good information about the pros and cons of music production gear...like I always have.

MPC 4000 has 64 voices....Maschine has 32.
MPC 4000 can import Akai, Roland, and Emu formats. Maschine?
An MPC...you just sample and assign later. Maschine has you picking a sound slot before you sample. Its nearly impossible to run out of sound slots on an MPC but not the case with Maschine. No?

Maschine still has no timestretching and pitchshifting like any sampler (including an MPC). No?

Honestly who cares you seen the videos and like you said MPC is better what more is there!! Specs mean nothing it is the music workflow. Hell you have already ordered maschine it is a given.

I sample a record duplicate is fast by assigning it to different pads or with the new OS go to split and make the regions I want by set amounts. By using the knobs I can adjust the start and ends easy and fast. Much faster than a mpc. Typically I don`t need to use more than 16 pads for sample based beats as I like to chop manual which? I search for the parts I want and copy and adjust. Again much faster workflow than an mpc.

I don`t timestretch ever I hate the side effects unless I`m in Ableton live which is really, really good. MPCs were not really good for this unless by minute amounts under 5 to 10 bpms. Pitchshifting don`t use it just the old school way of fitting the sample by sequencing.

What I do use is timeslicing the samples I always have. Just like Pete Rock and a zillions others did it by hand and it is the method most users use and how the chop shop on ya mpcs still work whether most know it or not just automated. No biggie set the chop points and slice, sequence on beat and most of the loops can be in sync. Easy same as I did on my 4k just Maschine chopping is easier along with the zoom.

Timeslice the old school way by Pete Rock

I don`t have Emu kits, Roland kits, or hardware kits as I don`t use those hardwares. But I do have alot of those sample kits, stabs, and you name it from the units. It is easy to build your own kits on Maschine everything is laid out in one page on the computer. And a plus I can preview a sample to add to the kit as the sequence it running to add to the pad quick and easy. Just faster and I like the library too.

Anyway it sounds like you made up your mind Jah and it may be better to cancel your order and save your money. What would a star trek bridge having studio jack like you want an maschine anyways. I mean you don`t intend to run all your hardware from it, do You? That would be an big mistake on your part? You should just download the demo and answer all the doubts you have from that.

If I were you I would do that, it is your credit card and you are intelligent enough to know specs is just specs and your workflow and your ease of use is what counts. No manual can explain or show how well it fits you the user.

I study others, peep it out, and try for myself. Simple.

But on the real if you are still hardware like one of my favs
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QlPHKWOE ... re=related

I would say MPC still is king and it reigns for hardware control. Simple especially for a hardware studio.

I had to dig to up to prove you wrong again.

Cmon son an E5 sergeant with 3 kids in the Air Force isn't making that much. Stop playing yourself with max out credit cards son.

Sure we can do another beat battle with jah anytime, anyway, anywhere. Just like last year Jah came with the nintendo Zelda beat and lost so I not impressed by anything he says. Post a link Jahrome.
