And with the kat that likes to use electronic drums over acoustic? I think there's other angles that can be looked at and dealt with if you have to go with tracking live musicians.
you know what I tink is neat about that though? you can record in an apartment with headphones and not make a peep in the apartment! haha!
One thing I used to love about reason when I first saw it was flipping the rack around and how it was a virtual representation of hardware with the cables and that! for the first couple of weeks when I first got reason (I think it was version 2.5 or 3 or something) I didn't make a single track because I was too busy seeing what would happen if I randomly wired this and that all backwards and stuff. Everything seemed to be pretty accurate except for things like magnetic fields and what not from bunched wires! which would have been totally awesome IMO!
I think that recording through DI boxes can be kind of limited though for some instruments... maybe not things like bass, but for example electric guitar... half the sound and character is coming from the amp you use.
