Exchange tips and tricks for the Akai MPC4000

Hello people!

I've got a question regarding recording in the mpc4K. Sometimes after recording a sample and listen back to it, i hear digital clicks which i haven't heard during the actual recording.
When i go to sample editing i can see the clicks in the waveform (randomly placed so it seems).

It happened on the 24 bit recordings, 48 KHz.
Can someone put me in the right direction, please :)

peace

Did this happen when sampling from the digital inputs?

If so it could be a WORDCLOCK issue.

Without correct clocking, digital signals may contain popping noises.

The MPC4000 does provide for a WORDCLOCK input.

No, not through the digital inputs:
It was sampled with xlr cable through the line inputs ..
(I've noticed no problems with recording through the phone inputs).

Anyway, thanks for the reaction. I hope someone can point out for me what the problem is..
BTW it is the white 4K.

So far only on 24 bit, but i'll try recording from now on 16 bit...

But let's suppose it doesn't do this on the 16 bit samples, whats wrong then with sampling 24 bit? Isn't there anyone out there
who has experienced the same issue, cos it happened to me like a minute ago again. anyway, I'll try tomorrow the 16 bit recording.

Could be an issue with your A/D/A converters.

What you are doing is troubleshooting, saves paying someone else to do it for you.

Well, after sampling a lot lately on 16 bit i couldn't find no problems.
So the problem with digital clicks that (sometimes) are added by the MPC only happens on 24 bit recording.

Does someone have any suggestion what this means?
I prefer 24 bit/48 KHz till the final mixdown...

that happens when I sample a clipped signal in the 60, have you checked the levels?

Yes, the levels were good. The strange thing is: When ive recorded the sample and played it right after recording it was ok.
But when i go to [sample] editing, sometimes it's suddenly filled with digital clicks that werent there a few seconds ago...
It's a kinda weird problem, i know.

Appreciate the input though!

Try replacing the memory.
