the fx on the esx blow the 1k away

the filters on the sx are some of the smoothest ive come across

dedicated knobs for sample start n end points with non destructive editing make it quick to edit sounds n chop

there is a knob for pitch on any selected sound, and tune in the menu option all real time

using a keyboard mode u can get 16 levels on a sound quick for bass instruments

there is a 16part auto chop divide but the way its implemented aint how i like

yeah the filters are nice.

no waveform display for trimming samples, but you can set start and end points with the main dial. there's also a dedicated start point knob which can be used while playing - that can make some really fun jams by sequencing a sampled break on every beat and then twiddling the start point knob so a different part of the sample plays on each beat ... I probably haven't explained that well, but it's fun.

timestretching is done by saying how many beats a sample has, then assigning it to one of the two Stretch parts, and that will automatically stretch the sample to fill a single measure at the current tempo. it works pretty well.

chopping is done by creating a "Sliced Sample" but as jpeg says, it's not implemented well. After slicing your sample you then assign it to the dedicated Sliced Sample part, and you can then mute individual hits from that sliced sample. but (as far I can find) there's no easy way to re-order the beats or do much with it except mute single hits. You can assign single slices of a sliced sample to their own parts, and then sequence those parts in a new order, but you have to do the assignment manually for each slice and doing so uses up a lot of parts, so you'd want to resample the results and assign it to a single part. There's no simple equivalent to how the MPC chops a sample and then assigns the results to the pads for you to create a new break from the individual hits.

cyrus wrote:hows the sample one compare to sp404sx ?

1.ability to trim sample?
2.timestretch?
3.pitch tune mpc style?
4. some way to chop up a loop ? (like copy sample multiple times and adjust start points)
5.etc.

Timestretch and pitch tune are MPC style and blow the SP404 in that department. And you can resample sequences like an MPC and add effects to it and flip anyhow you see fit. You can even resample a sequence and external sounds like a turntable or keyboard at the sametime.

With Slice feature you can chop up loops.

Its awesome for live work.

If I remember right it depends on the part a sample is assigned to. Keyboard parts are note on, drum parts are one-shot and I think they can overlap ... might be wrong, I'm not at home now.
I don't think there's a way to have a mono program, but parts 6A and 6B are permanently in a mute group (in MPC terms) and the same for parts 7A and 7B, so the sample on 6A cuts out 6B and vice versa.

16 note poly, sounds r one shot mode but there is a keyboard mode where shit is note on

but the korg esx is the best overall i have had im more productive with that then the mpc the sx has the best build quality..

the only things i did not like is the noise floor is high and the lack of freely assignable mute groups
