My New Toys :)

Got these today, they are the 900's. I was going to get the 1000's but I've heard some bad things about hardware problems so thought I'd stick with the safe model.

I can't spin a cdj to save my life.

I've been considering stanton str8 150's to replace my 1200's though.

wouldn't recommend it.


I have owned the str8-100s and the 150s..


both have a serious motor control glitch that stanton will not help you with.


It gets triggered in certain magnetic fields, and the dish speeds up to 1000 rpm out of nowhere.

i got the str8150's (almost 3 yrs ago) and can say they are really good, dnt know if you really need to change up, 1200's tho, they do the job fine . But the st8150's are very very nice if u like 2 scratch, juggle. the extra features like the xtra pitch control comes in handy when sampling etc. they are heavy as **** 2 carry but that dont matter. i havent had any problems with the build quality.

unless there a specific reason u dnt want the 1200s, u cud use that money for somin else tho

I considered other makes and models, but I feel if you can afford the industry standard, go with them because if you ever go to play out the majority of the clubs are using Pioneer's ... unless they are cheap, in which case there should be little problem swtiching over to another brand.

I was going to go for another set of 1200's but these days everything is digital and digital EP's are much cheaper and take up no storage space.

I'll have to look into this, I wonder if it's common.

Techs 1200's are nice decks but I scratch and juggle a lot. I've used some higher torque demo decks and liked the way they responded. The tools are similar, some just have a more direct feel.

I bought a str8 150 off eBay for sampling and I'm very happy with it. I've also got a pair of CDJ 1000 mk2's, but I would like to upgrade to something that could accomodate files from memory sticks etc.

The top Denon's look pretty decent.

My 900's have USB ports for external drives.

You can also hook them up to Tractor or similar software.

All the top decks offer this now, but the DN-S3700 is the first spinning platter cd deck that looks good to me.

I've been using CDJs since '97 so it'd be nice to try something else. The only function on the CDJ-2000 that I think is nice is the needle drop ribbon, but other than that it's massively overpriced in my opinion.

You can max out your sample time in an SP1200 like never before! :D
