MPC 2500 using jjos 1.41

I've just purchased an mpc 2500 second hand and i think i have a few problems. I've only used a mpc 1000 for a few months so i'm not very good with them anyway but i do believe somethings not quite right here.

When i hit 'mode' then 'load' i scroll to my samples. I hit 'play' and the sound plays as it should. When i select 'do it' a line of text flashes on the screen that i don't have time to read and that's it. I don't have any option to assign the hit to a pad. If i hit any of the 16 pads it plays the same sample but when i hit the 'main' button there is no sound assigned to any pads.
With the MPC 1000 i was always allowed to assign my sample to a pad and never had any problems. Am i doing something wrong?

Also the mpc is supposed to come with a 40gig internal hdd but when i enter the save function and locate the hard disk details it tells me HDD Free= 0.0mb Wave Free= 116.3mb.

Is this telling me the previous user has used up every bit of the internal hard drive?

sorry for the wait on the reply. i've tried copying the mpc's hard drive date to the pc but the pc won't recognise the mpc's hard drive. When i hook up the usb cable with memory card selected the computer picks up the drive but when i select the mpc's hard drive no drive shows up on the pc.

any help would be greatly appreciated

if the previous owner told you there was a hard-drive already installed then he was lying. go to load, then choose hard-drive and see if there is anything on it. this will determine whether or not you have to handle "yurr bizzness brahh" as they say in guildford west.

it's easy to open the front panel where the CD drive and hard drive go... you just need to remove a couple screws on the front to access it... i would check if there is a hard drive installed or not, and if so, try pushing it back a bit as it may have shifted and disconnected during shipping.

as far as loading samples to a pad when you hit do it.. Im not sure about JJos 1.41 or whatever.. but when you go to load and highlight either "Memory Card" or "Hard Drive" and hit the Open window Button it will bring up an Option window with the "Sample assign to Pad Window:On/Off" (in OSXL anyway) switch it on, then when you load a sound it will allow you to assign it directly to a prgm/pad.

But Like I said .. not sure about OS1 though.
As for the HD showing 0MB.. like the others said.. you either have No HD, a mis seated HD, or a corrupt HD.

Good lUck
