$150 is ok...

Anyone buying that
doesnt get a deal but doesnt get ripped of as well.

$75? common it is not that wackie...

The average 2k/2kxl user isn't going to pay more than $75 simply because they have too many options available to put value in the EB.
Plain and simple.

what are you talking about... people are paying up to 200 for the eb16.

i think they get those prices because it sounds really handy to me to be able to recall your effects from zip or whatever..
sure, there probably are better effects, but theyre external..

im wondering: does the eb16 have additional filters? cause itd be cool to have a HP filter in a 2KXL :)

oh yeah: is there some info available somewhere about the mpc 2kxl os? like about why theres no JJos for it.. (im assuming filtering and such is 'executed' by the os)

there is the usual low pass filter, and the eb16 has a 3 band EQ if I remember correct... so yes, it has a high pass filter. The filter is probably the best thing on the eb16.

there is no JJOS for the xl:

1) JJ was not working on the original akai OS for the 2000/xl models like he was for the 1000/2500...
2) the 2000xl OS works fine as it is. there are no real bugs that I can think of.

I have to say I like mine
Even though I have 8 outs and route that to my mixer and use outboard effects like
a mutron bi phase a line6 filter pro a kaoss pad a DL4 and custom built echo chambers

It is nice to have effects inside the MPC when I just want a little verb on a snare or compression
I like the combo of the effects too and the distortion is pretty nice

I do not regret buying it

WOW! $200 for the EB is crazy, glad I don't shop where you shop.
I guess it only takes one individual to be willing to pay too much for something to sell for too much.

I bought one for 130 off of Ebay, I'm still learning it, but I normally see them go for 180n to 250 just because they're rare

what do you mean... where I shop? dude, last year EB16 cards were being posted on ebay for 300-350. okay that is expensive as hell, but they eventually dropped to that 150-200 area people are talking about in here. It just occured to me that something that is about 175USD is 200CAD.

I originally got my EB years ago for 175, but that was locally (where there are not many MPCs) and I got to install it in my machine and test it out before handing over the money. Our prices are also slightly higher then say... NYC. I think the price was okay, it wasn't an amazing deal considering they are priced lower these days.

I had the effects option of buying an EB-16 for $250 or an ASR-10 for $310.
Guess which one I went with?

i use it very often for the filter and delay, some reverb, but you have to figure out how to use it to get good sound out of it.

the thing about it though is that this card shines when you use the effects for stuff their not meant for, like using modulation feedback to get a thumping kick and such.

as for using presets...well...who the hell uses presets?!
