Having some issues, seeking help.

I have connected my MPC1000 to my CPU via midi. For some reason I can't get a signal when I hit the pads in REASON. I have configured both properly according to the manuals but just can't seem to get the **** to work right. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
