MY NEW MPC IS DROPPING NOTES-

HEY I JUS GOT A NEW MPC500 AND THE NOTES ARE FALLING OUT LIKE CRAZY-
i jus wanted to do a simple pattern like
track 1 hihats
track 2 KICKS
track3 snares

and when i get to the fourth track to lay my sample over it the sample only plays a lil bit-
like 1/2 the barr and then gets cut off-
none of the mutes are on-
and all notes are on mono-

and it keeps dooing this-

i dont have the upgraded RAM and im very frustrated at this point as
i own a mpc 2500 and have never had any prollems at all-

you're probably using up all of your 32 note polyphony. Try converting some of your samples from stereo to mono and see if it helps.

yeah already did that but thanx though ive done and tried everything i can think of and everything ive found on here-
as well as called akai and they havent gotten back to me yet soooooo im wondering if i should jus send it back-

When that happens to me, I turn off the effects, change every sample from poly to mono, check to see if that fixed it. If not, turn off one of the tracks to see if it is interfering. That usually fixed the problem for me, but if you've already tried that, than I would not know.

You could also try muting/erasing a sample or two. You might have a sample with a very large tail of silence. Playing silence on the MPC still uses polyphony. For these kinds of samples it is sometimes best to use note on instead of one shot so that you can conserve your polyphony.
