yeah I like dabs man... it reminds me of some video game tunes from the 16 bit era... but I added a bit of a hip hop section in the end for you guys.

Yo, debauch...sound quality and overall presense should play a part in this too, am I right? But I'll overlook this part and personally judge on creativity only.

I remember you saying that urban contempory or something to that nature was more of your speed. It's mine too, but I felt at the last minute to do something "hiphopish", since that seems to be what the majority prefer around here.

I'll sit on the sidelines and see who likes what and we'll tally it up from there.

p.s. - I was expecting some fire from you but what you posted is good enough.

Cheers

Debauch, you don't have a program to convert that .wav to .mp3? All of my tracks were imported as .wav and converted in sony soundforge.

Most folks will say that mp3's get the life sucked out of them but that's not what I've experienced.

And guess what, that "my homey" track hasn't even been mastered yet. But I'm also into sound quality too, so that's one area I don't skimp over.

Anyone judging this battle? I gotta give the win to Debauch. Not my cup of tea,, But his song sounds much more connected with what's happening musically. And several times more interesting.

Thanks for sharing HOMEY. Now tell me how has somebody won and only two people have posted their decision, and so far it looks like it's a 50/50 ball game. ???

I give my vote to Dab. Very intricate and jazzy, with a touch of mainstream flavor. I could see someone like K-Ci and JoJo or Montell Jordan on this joint.

honestly, i didn't ever hear any of dabs music until the day after he called me out. When I heard his style.... I didn't think it would even be possible to say mine vs his because they are a completely different world of music all together.

Dabs music has a big nostalgic feel to me. It reminds me of stuff going on in video games and things like that when I was a kid. I didn't know anyone still made music like that in fact, what genre would it be considered? Like hip hop obviously but what sub genre?

Some might call it "hip hop jazz". But regardless, I play anything that comes to mind. And like I always state...0% samples.

I like to program my own drum seq's, and track all my instruments via midi using nuendo 3. The "homey" track consisted of a Roland JV 1080 (bass) and all other instruments except the drums are from a Yamaha Motif ES rack.

Then there might come a rare occasion where I may feel I need to use different instruments from other sound sources.

Thanks Tap! This is what I do...orchestrate music. I've always let it be known that I play out my compositions rather than sampling them (I will however sample my own sh!t though).

I guess whenever I feel under pressure I do my best, or at least I feel that way.
