OK im stuck.

I am trying to put a 36 GB Hard drive in my s6000...

I wired it in, even added a separate power switch so it does not spin constantly...

I cant get it to read.

It says: fatal exception on scsi ID 0, which is the drive.


Is this a SCSI Device conflict?

should I change the device ID to 5 or something?


I know once I get it formatted, it will read just fine, but even when I boot with the HD not plugged into the scsi cable, then plug it in while it is on, and go to disk screen to format, it does the same fatal exception screen. any Ideas?

Sorry man i didnt know I got it all wired up to scsi hd.

I formatted a 36 gb internal and am transfering what I have on an 18 gig external to it... SCSI COPY takes forever... i think its at 60 percent after 4 hours.

I own an s6000 to and i want to buy a new scsi hard disk.I read somewhere that the s6000 can only read 9 gb of any hard disk.Is that true?You bought an 36gb hard disk..can you use all of the disk space.I'll be waitin your answer...

Well, seeing that people have slammed 70 gigs plus, I think it is all working...

I think the cutoff is 140 gigs?

The transfer was a "scsi copy" operation, copying from an external to an internal. It was a byproduct of having the s6000 do the copy... if I would have done it via USB it would have been quick... I didn't think about that before I started.

NEXT: internal card reader mounted behind where the front panel behind the screen.

i have (re)joined your ranks - picked up a s3000xl do go with my mpc1K.

I don't but it's worth noting that S-5000's sell for less than some of the samplers you mentioned which is criminal! Take advantage while you can I say!

S-5000 here for £100!!! S-6000 for not much more either, If I had the space for another rack I would...but I love my 3200XL

i am looking for a scsi sampler to use with recycle.

I may go with an e-mu, but wanted akai, so that I could dump to the rack then load into the mpc2000.

it's stupid really, I just miss the old days and how recycle was a nice tool to work with a scsi sampler.

I have a g3 powerbook to hook up to the rack.

Yes! Just got my s950 a week or so ago, lovin it..
Was having a few troubles with it at first - thought the floppy drive had died but turned out one of the cables in the back of it wasn't plugged in properly. Very relieved didn't have to drop an additional 100+ $$ on a new drive
