Sorry guy's gonna move the 4000 through due to the fact it wont play all my xl and 3000 tracks back.

My main problem is the pitching....ie

If you done a track o the xl and you have assigned a sound to the slider (pitch) the 4000k messes with all the tunning of it.....and man this pisses me off!!!!!

Dont get me wrong its a great box but i need all my grooves to work.

I wonder why are you saying this? Just sell it and move on.

Why wouldnt he say it? He probably is frustrated and annoyed at the fact that its not working for him. Thats good for the next person that wants to move from the same unit like him, maybe they'll think twice about it and not loose out some cash like he probably did.

yhea and it sounds like your dateing pacman .. but on more on topic note

I dusted the dust off my faithfully XL the other day, the first thing I said to myself when I saw it was ahhh the good old days, when life was simple, then I started fooling around with it and my god have I come a long way from home!! the editing in the xl was so basic I felt like I was on a calculator, honestly, and I encourage anyone with a 4k to cheek out a 2k just for the fun of it just to relize and appreciate the 4k luxury a bit more, because the bloody 4k with all its commands and features is in fact faster in use once its second nature!! Bravo akai !!!

the sound well I couldn’t tell much difference, there was obvious dif at 24/96 the 4k sounding much bigger/richer/dynamic, in 16bit they were roughly the same if anything the 4k had more detail to its sound, dunno the was hardly any dif the 2k sounds absuloutly great! didn't have much time to a/b them but the 4k had more precence imo the dif was so minor though.. dunno maybe the 4k has better a/d converters? or summthing,..

for someone to say the xl is a better tool and sounds better is wack and anyone who is going back to 2k has never really driven a 4k, the only thing I like on the XL over the 4k would be the individual fader per pad assignment … akai please bring this back!!!

MINE HAS THIS ON THE PAD MIXER. OR ARE YOU TALKIN ABOUT SOMETHING ELSE <--- SORRY FOT THE CAPS

By glide Tue Sep 14, 2004 1:45 am
no I'm talking induvidual qlink setting per pad, filter, decey, lfo depth ect per pad, you now like on the 2 k you'd hit a pad and the fader would respond to its setting fxample decay, then you hit another pad and the fader would respond to whatever that pad was set to, in the 4k we just have 6setting per mutli instead of 6 settings per pad.. it's nice to have 6 global realtime preformance controles but when creating a song you are always reconfiguring the qlink setup, it just the increased speed of workflow and of corse it be impressifly expressif..

that's the one thing i need if i switch to a mpc 4000 from a 2000 xl. i got zips full of beats that i want to be able to use & don't really wanna spend months remakin' em. do they only not playback if you use the slider? other wise i'm goin' with a z8 and keepin' my xl.

some of yall amaze me

just bounce yer beats down on some multitracker and call it a day

9 times out of 10 your not even going to bother these beats again so whats the purpose if you do you can always open the midi sequence and lay the samples back out
