Hi,

I have a 16 bar pattern... the first 8 bars are the main theme, while the next 8 bars are a variation on that theme...you know, much like the first 8, but spicier. ;) So, I've been doing some filter sweeps over the 16 bars... and the sweep I have recorded in bars 1-8 is so tight that I want to copy it to bars 9-16.

Problem is, I'm not seeing how to duplicate (just) the sweep into bars 9-16. That is, I want to copy the sweep only (from bars 1-8) over to bars 9-16, while still leaving the existing notes in bars 9-16 intact.

I've read quite a few sections of the manual and searched the forum, but couldn't find the answer.

Thanks,

Hayoo

A bit off-topic: If you press/hold the erase button while you're over-dubbing, you can erase notes recorded with the pads. Yea, we know that. But it also works for QLink controllers. To remove a sweep, I just held the erase button and tweaked the given knob (non-stop) while it over-dubbed. Voila! ...much easier than erasing controller information piece by piece, like I had been doing! It probably says this in the manual somewhere, but I discovered it by accident and it saved me a bunch of time.

Here's my workaround. I can do this in minutes, but wow, they really need to add this as a feature...or I need to find that page in the manual. To keep this simple, the original track will be referred to as the old track. I will be copying the old track and referring to the copy as the new track. The process is this: isolate the notes and controller data on separate tracks, duplicate the controller data, merge the tracks. Keep in mind that you won't be able to audition this as you go; you must already have identified the portion of the controller data that you wish to keep/duplicate. The steps below involved duplicating the sweep of a cutoff filter, so if you're editing different controller data, be sure to account for this in Step 6. Here's how...

1) Copy the old track. When finished, the new copied track should then be active.
2) Go into Step Edit mode (MODE+PAD13) on the new track and find the settings at the top (View/P/T).
3) Change settings to View:NOTES and P:ALL (show all notes on the new track).
4) Multi-select (Shift+Arrow) all the notes and then press DELETE (F4). Do not leave Step Edit mode.
5) Press and hold the TRACK button (F2) and then re-select the old track.
6) Change settings to View:REALTIME and P:ALL and T:CUTOFF (show all cutoff data on the old track).
7) Multi-select all of the data and then press DELETE (F4). Do not leave Step Edit mode.
8) Change settings back to View:ALL. You now have the notes and controller data isolated.
9) Press and hold the TRACK button (F2) to re-select the new track.
10) Now make your edits to the data (in my case, select/copy/paste the cutoff data from bars 1-8 -> 9-16).
11) Go into Sequence Edit mode (MODE+PAD12).
12) Press the EVENTS button (F1) to ensure that it is active.
13) Now make settings* to suit your needs, ensuring that MERGE is set as the mode.
14) Press DO IT (F6) to merge the controller data back into the note data on the old track.

* These were my settings:
Code: Select all        Edit: MOVE
        Range:
            From: 001.01.000
              To: 017.01.000
        Pads: ALL
        From:
            Sq: 01
            Tk: 02
        To:
            Sq: 01
            Tk: 01
        Mode: MERGE
        Start: 001.01.000

Know an easier way? Or a proper way? I'm all ears!
