Can I sync all recordings when sampling internally ?

hey everybody,

I'd like to mix down some beats from my MPC 4000 but i don't have an external mixer or anything to record it properly.

What I am currently doing is that I make the MPC 4000 "'auto sample itself" and it works p^retty well but I can't work on each track and add say like a lil' reverb on the kick, on the snare or whatever, because when I use the "auo sampling" method, everything is recorded at once.

What I think I can do is sample each track of the beat individually (like the kick track, the snare track, the hi hat track,...) and then sync all that with Adobe Audition.

When you set the MPC on "auto sample", can you synchronize each track so that it all starts at the beginning of the beat, and not like 20 millisecond after (because I can't hit the "record" button and the "play start" at the exact same time, there's always a slight difference of a few dozens milliseconds...) ?

u will always get a slight difference. but there's one trick u can try that might work for u:
at the start of each track u record, play a "reference hit" like the tic from the metronome for example so when u assemble all ur tracks later on a multitracker u can make all the reference hits coincide which will make ur tracks in sync to a certain extend it all depends on how accurate u r with getting ur references to coincide and how accurate ur software, hardware or whatever u use is.
it wont be in sync 100% but its the closest u can get without real syncronization (midi)

Try this Misterv:

1. set Record start to "Threshold"
2. set Treshold to -49db
3. adjust the time length to however long the track is. I usually add a few more seconds so I can stop the recording myself.
4. Hit record
5. Hit the play button

note recording won't start till the beat drops so it should work like that for all your tracks. So in essence, all the tracks you record this way should have no gaps in the beginning. Let me know if that works out for ya.
