Instead of looking for samples from the Fantom or Motif look for a Motif rack or a Sonic Cell. They can be had cheap and will give you the ability to play them, sample them or play yourself playing them.

Good advice. I will mostly sample things myself rather than using libraries, I have a vintage synthesizer service centre, and in the studio we have over 30 vintage synths - PPG, CS-80, ARP's, Moogs, Prophets, you name it, so I will be busy sampling them as I get time for some projects that I have in mind.

Yeah, noticed that already. But still the RAM is enough for the instrumentation of one beat / song.

I have access to a whole load of good sounds through VIs, Kontakt/Structure libraries on my Laptop. The idea was to boot only one box (MPC 5000) and have all sounds accessible in it. IMO still possible. Converted some EMU sample CDs to S5000 format, downloaded a few sounds and ordered some more libraries. But the programs from Fantom, etc. libraries have too big a size for the MPCs.
Additionally I will sample and convert some nice VIs with Extreme Sample Converter for the direct acces in the MP.

Definitely the route to go.
People thought it was crazy to sample existing gear into the 4k, but it just made it really easy to use and actually gave you some good manipulative ability.
The 5k doesn't have the large amount of memory that the 4k had but still allows you to work the same way.

Im glad u got the 5k. im a frickin mpc 5k advocate of sorts. its an incredible piece. learn to use the effects on the synth parts or eq to make the synth on it less harsh. btw thanks for the good words about the beats. enjoy

could anybody explain how to create a multisampled kg program?
what are the best notes of an instrument to be sampled (the c of every octave for example???)
how do you split the kg?
I would love to create cg programs using my blofeld synth as the source but i don`t know how to start.
the 2.0 additional manual from akai ist not helping me very much.
