I use no more than 55% on anything and to keep things in place together i always never go over that. So ill put my drums swing at 55% and maybe my hi hats at 52 or 53 and everything else somewhere between 50and 55. It gives me a nice feel and its not over used.

naw when i mean over used im just saying im not using to much as far as going to the high 50's and 60's. Swing is a small percentage of what makes a beat hot, if i give ya the numbers that still dont mean youll know when or when not to use it the way i do. So all in all i have gave you something to just think about when using it in your production but your production and my production will never sound because you find a different way to use it. Ya dig.

Best setting is unquantized and 1/16 triplets.

i htink it depends on diff ish. like ur loop or cuts, the melody how that is arranged. i use diff settings on everything. And every beat its diff. Like last night i was rockin 75 for drums, peep my link that ish butter. But then for the melody i had that ish turned off. there is no set swing, but it basically means its movin the notes a little over to make it offbeat, or syncopated, which makes it more human.

i agree with binger, there aint no secret quantize weapon try until it sounds right.

I was workin on some electronic beats yesterday where most of the isht was at 67 and man that beat grooves... remember also that the feel is down to the velocity and other controllers that make it pump or not...
don't just settle for quantize, push it to the limits...

peace

I agree, I have no set quantize, everything is different with every beat and depending on what side of the bed I wake up on that morning, depending on whether I'm mad or not, depending on whether I feel like rushin a beat or taking three weeks to build it to a good complexity.
