Im about to do some SERIOUS surgery on my 3000!!

How much of a difference did the new backlight make on your 3k? Is it easier to read in the daylight? Mine is way easier to read at night, wondering if the new backlight will improve daytime visibility.

I changed my backlight also. In daylight you cant really notice the backlight too much, but it does make it alot easier to read. When its dark, however, the backlight SHINES SO BRIGHT!! LOOKS AWESOME!!!

I just installed the new blue pads with the pad corx... The corx REALLY work AWESOME!! I can get to full velocity easy now... There was so much dirt caked in between my old pads it was ridiculous! I wiped the pad sensors off with a micro fiber cloth to get the dust off and then wiped em down with Isopropyl alcohol swabs. It took all the dust and grime off the pad sensors. Then I put the pad corx on the back of the new pads and put it back together. IT WAS WELL WORTH IT!! My pads are SOOOOO much more sensitive now!! Its gonna make my beats have so much more velocity now. I used to have to keep full level on for my drums and samples, now i can make my beats with full velocity off the whole time!!! Next up is the internal SCSI drive and tact switches....

I'm gonna replace the backlight on my mpc 3000, do you need to do any soldering to do this.

also - my mpc 3000's screen is quite dim in the daytime. A friend said the problem is not in the backlight but in the screen, so Im tempted to get another one from mpc-stuff. But do I need to be able to solder to replace this ?

Unless you buy a backlight that already has leads attached, you will have to solder it. Depending on the revision of the LCD you have, you either directly solder the backlight leads to the LCD or you attach the backlight leads to the wires that go to the inverter.

thanks - one thing that is quite odd - I've just opened up my mpc 3000, and the screws holding the pads/pad sensors in place are inserted far too tight.I've ruined the heads of 2 of the screws trying to get them out ?? (and i've checked to make sure im unscrewing them in the right direction...
I've got a new set of pads and pad corx - but cant see how Im going to get the screws undone- I've taken several 2500's and 1000s apart so am puzzled here. Note Im talking about the internal screws not the external ones..

I just successfully changed all the tact switches on my 3000!! Im so happy.. I just saved myself a boatload of money!!! They all work great and it was well worth it!

Soldering the backlight is actually not hard at all.. You need to have at least a little bit of soldering experience to do it though, or you need to know somebody who can do it for you..

I actually replaced my backlight in the 3000 with a working backlight from a s3000xl that I bought awhile ago... It was a little harder to do because the leads were so small but I made it work with some wire...
