if all it does is sequence notes, and all you can route it to is software synths on a pc... wouldn't it make more sense for it to just be a software plugin/program?? call me old-fashioned, but a controller is pointless without external MIDI ports imo.

But yeah - I get what you mean. It does sound pretty well feature packed and is supposed to sound good. It packs a lot of power into a portable device.

it will have MIDI ... it will tranfer wierless MIDI over fm ... yhea welcome to the future

so they will likely come out with somkind of a midi plug unit that sends and recives FM .. cool no cabels

personally I think it could be a wicked sampler, as the UI is first class!!! , some very nice realtime tweaking of samples, things that the mpc cant do .. like realtime preformance of start points etc.. and its so freaking protable and cuite..

only thing that worries me is how will it preform audio-vise? ... quiality A/D???? this is the big Q...
another is how will it preform in a studio/live enviroment, will it be able to understand program change commands .. can you recall tape machines like patterns, will it be able to recall multiple preformances in a live set without a glitch .. do the filters/EQ/FX sound good?? ..

if it will deliver on these accounts .. , well then its a brilliant little kitty..

Do you have a source for this? - Just tried to find info on it and couldn't - seems interesting.

So far as the UI being 'first class' and all that goes - I can't comment as i've never used it

have you not looket at the online videos?? ..the UI is pretty straight forward, even though you havent used it its pretty obvius.. its a very simple unit with a brilliant color scheme lcd and pretty much just one button press for each function ...

Yeah - watched quite a few of them - But 4 knobs seems too few if it is a synth with any depth - There is a potential for a lot of menu digging there.

But - without using the UI - or the OS first hand I can't comment really.

The Octatrack looks like it would be more my thing - been watching both with some interest.

Yes .. I´ve been following both units aswell with much intrest,.. I dont think the OP will have a very deep anything and I like that (I´ve got plenty of deep stuff)..

the octatrack, is a great consept but will get the same question: will it deliver on audio quiality?, AD/DA, Filters/EQ/FX,.. so far I´m not a big fan of their built quaility..

might end up getting both.. the release date´s are what? the last quarter 2010? ..can´t wait!
