MPC as a liveact instrument

Hi guys did anyone tried to play a whole 45-60 min live act.
I'm talking about Breakcore/hardcore/jungle/dnb style?
I've tried that but after laying 4 tracks across 4 banks I had to reload the banks to another 4 tracks in the meantime. I needed another sound source (vinyl/mp3) to fill that gap.
Any other ideas to go smooth with bigger amount of samples?

I was thinking about laying 2 samples under one pad (first triggers at 127-127 vol and second between 0-126). Triggering first sample with "full level" on and the other one with this function off. Will that work?

which mpc? 128 mb of ram is quite a lot of space if you're dealing with mono samples.

back in the 2000xl days i used to run a cd and some synths to fill the gap while loading from a zip.

I don't really understand when you say 4 tracks across 4 banks... but the idea of the velocity switch is kinda risky. Too easy to mistakingly trigger the wrong sample. How bout you load a bunch of programs and assign em all different program numbers.. leave the cursor in the Pgm: field and switch as needed. That would be 512 banks at your finger tips (theoretically... depending on memory space.)

I'm talking about mpc500 2gb memory card. 128 ram.

"4 tracks" i mean 4 songs, one in each bank.

I'm not sure about program change, doesn't it has to stop audio to load a new program?

I will test 2 samples in each pad today.

personally i never understood mpc as a live act, always thought it was pointless as no one even know wtf is up with mpc's anyways. i dunno, not trying to be a dick, but can someone fill me in on the attraction of using mpc live? i mean, maybe in combo with some tables and triggering samples during your set, but i always thought live jamming on a solo mpc is lame............sorry.

well if im ever going to take start playing out with my mpc (4k, 512mb ram) .. it would mainly be experimental stuff, live beat creation and triggering of full drumtracks whilst playing bass/synts etc ontop with a keyboard o just triggering on the pads.. but i could also set things up so that i could mix full wave songs by triggering them on the pads and use noterepeat to have it triggered on time and on beat, for proper beatmatching.. obviously takes some training but it would work.. also means that you can seamlessly mix prerecorded songs into your own live stuff.. and can let prerecorded tunes or wave material run as you load up and prepare new things for other banks/pads.

I've seen people sample a loop, auto chop, auto assign, and pretty much play it in its original order over pre-sequenced drums all while jumpin around in their seats like they're doin somethin. That, is lame. On the other hand... I've seen some pretty creative programmin, nice hand coordination, and all around good musicianship. To me, it's no different than watchin a DJ, drummer, keyboardist or anything else live. Plus the improvisational aspect of it. I feel like I can sit down with a band and have a real jam session cause I've learned to use it as an instrument instead of a DAW.
