Sometimes get clicking/popping noises during samples/playbac

Hey guys,

So for some reason, I *sometimes* get an annoying click or popping noise when I play a sample and/or a sequence. I imported these samples from my laptop and I listened to the samples there and they're perfect -- no clicking/popping whatsoever -- so I know the problem is not from the samples themselves.

Now, I connected my MPC to the computer via USB (I don't have a CF card reader on the laptop), transfer the files and get going. What's weird is that SOMETIMES I get the popping/clicking noise and SOMETIMES I don't. I tried reformatting the CF card through my laptop AND the MPC, but I'm not sure that's the trick. So what I did was take out the CF card, let it sit out for a few seconds, put it back in, then it's another hit-or-miss to see if it'll have that annoying click.

What can the problem be? Is it the card? Should I just get another one? Are there settings on the MPC to eliminate these glitchy clicks/pops? Formatting it should've solved the problem no?

Further, i think the CF card is the problem because when I load the stock internal flash samples, they work perfectly...


but when I load those same stock sample (downloaded through the Akai website), it either won't load all of it, some samples work and some don't, or some samples have that annoying *click/glitch* sound

What I'm gonna do is get the HDD expansion (HDM10) and use an extra hard drive i have lying around from an old laptop and try that out. If it works perfectly, then it MUST be the CF card.

And if it does work, then I'll just stick with using an HDD instead of a CF card.
