What are some good monitors in the $400 and lower price range? I have had the Rokit 6s for awhile but Im thinking I want to try something new. Should I switch or are the Rokit 6s one of the best? I had the Behringer Truth monitors but one of them blew out on me and I returned them and got the Rokits instead... The Truths actually sounded pretty freaking good though if I remember correctly...

+1 on the M-Audio. The 8's are pretty solid. I sold my rokit 5's and picked up like new bx8's. Huge difference. Also look on craigslist or tour the thrift shop. I bought a pair of bx5's for $40. Someone unloaded them because of a scratchy sound in one channel. 2 capacitors later, they work like a charm.

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!!!!!
if 400.00 is your budget, avoid anything new in that price range homie. PLEASE!!

My budget was close to yours and I went the used route. EVENT ASP8's kills anything by far that you can buy new for 400.00 trust me bro.

hit guitar center .com and search used gear. this guitar center was in chitown and they shipped it to my local GC after i purchased.

EVENT ASP6 or 8's

The Events are just about 'ok', but I would look to Fostex in that price range - they are pretty decent monitors for the money - You could even get a set of Mackies for another 50 to 100 on top of your budget ( although, I also think that the Mackies, other than their top end range, is a bit over-hyped ).

I got the Behringer Truth B2031a monitors, I know it's Behringer and everyone puts them down...get a pair. They're pretty accurate and sound great. Not too much low end like a lot of monitors have in the said price range.

No No and No

I was given a pair of these years ago. I got to compare them against JBL's Yamaha's and Mackie's these are not good monitors at all.
