Just curious about this lttle package - been offered it for peanuts really.

I use Kontakt and Mach Five as my samplers of choice, but I seem to have read a lot of good things about the EMU. I like the sound of it's external sampling simplicities ... one things that the two I use currently are capable of but always a little convoluted in doing.

yes greate for creating ownsounds and patches...there are a lot modulation and crazy filters....

not the best when it comes down to bread & butter sounds...

but a great piece of a SAMPLER!

I have a couple of EMU bits already, including an 1820 s/c along side my RME. I use the Proteus X for certain sounds, as they are still clean and very usable despite being a 'freebie' nowadays.

I have a rich and broad sound palatte already, so that isn't the main consideration of the Emulator X sampler, to be honest ... I am thinking more about it's easy sampling and - based on what you guys are telling me - it's sound shaping possibilites with those samples imported in.

Mach Five is good for manipulation, although not so great at sampling itself. Kontakt is, well, Kontakt .... I love it and loathe it at the same time.

Yeh, thing is, I got rid of virtually all of my hardware a few years back and went near on entirely virtual, as computers became powerful enough to run what I needed.
I used to have an Akai s3000 and liked it, despite some picking it to pieces in unjustified ways ( at least to me ). I always churned out nice sounding samples - it was just a case of working with the unit in the best possible way.

No, I will stick with the virtuals only ... ( MPC aside, although even this is facing eventual Ebay if I finally decide to convince myself to buy NI's Maschine ).

Thanks all, anyways :)
