Q1. Can i trigger MIDI samples from ableton live with my mpc2500 ?as if how ?

Q2. What is the reason for mpc2500 to sync with ableton ?

Thanks

1. Yes, enable midi control in ableton prefs, then click the midi assign button (all assignable parameters turn blue) and tap a pad to assign to launch clips, change fx, etc...

2. so that your sequences on the mpc will start on time with your sequence in ableton, also for tempo based fx...

Yes, I've done this successfully. But be aware of soundcard latency which might be noticeable. Actually that was a problem and we were using latency compensation in Ableton settings, but keep in ming that latency may vary and also Ableton midi clock is not very tight (depends on midi card).

This is how we do it:

1. MPC is a master (MIDI Clock)
2. Ableton is a slave (find this is midi settings)
3. Enter MIDI assigning mode in Ableton (m... blue button somewhere in right top corner... dunno)
4. Point to Start button on whatever track
5. Hit pad or midi note on MPC (you must set up an MIDI input channel the corresponds to MPC track that will play your events to drive Ableton).
6. The put this note in your sequence and the clip will play as note will be played
7. Adjust latency compensation in Ableton - as far as I remember, they are in Audio group. If you do not hear latency - you might skip this part.

Note: keep attention to MIDI bindings and make correct binding for each of your tracks.

OK, I suppose that MPC output (for example 1) connected to you fast track card.
If so, then:

1. If you want to stay in sync (which is not necessary if you want just to launch audio clips) you need to set sync type to Midi Clock. Set the same type (Midi Clock) as master on your MPC in MIDI/SYNC settings (I have JJ XL). Also set to send MMC.

2. Then make sure that MIDI is transmitting to Ableton. There is a MIDI indicator in main screen.

3. Activate MIDI mapping, highlight control you want to automate (start button). Hit the pad and you will see that another MIDI mapping appears on the right.

These are my current settings.

4. Deactivate midi mode and hit the same key, which is now mapped.

5. If you wish sync Ableton tempo - click tempo source to EXT in main window.

OK,

You must set MPC to only master, but not slave, cause it don't make sense.

Then you must create midi track (or drum) on MPC and assign it to 1A MPC out (the same that is going to Fasttrack).

Also make sure that midi comes to Fasttrack (maybe there are some indicators on it) and Ableton (there is midi activity indicator in top right cornet near to MIDI assign mode blue button).

You are using JJ, right? Assignment editor is on the right bottom corner in MAIN view, when some track is selected.

Yes, when midi go into Ableton it will flash.
