Recording eight inputs at once

If I upgraded the processor in my G3 to 500 mhz (300 MB RAM) and got a soundcard with 8-10 ins, would I be able to record the eight outs from my S-1000 into Nuendo all at once or would I need a more powerful processor?

Basically I'm trying to decide between a PCI soundcard with 2-ins vs. 10 ins.

u shoulda atleast have 512mb of ram as minimum man

I'm not exactly sure about your processor speed since it is a MAC, but on my PC I'm running 1.8 GHZ and 512 MB RAM, from my 8 out on my MPC into Nuendo with no problems. I think MACs are underrated so it is probably more comparable to a 750 - 800 MHZ PC which might be pushing it. You may get some studdering. I would say you need atleast a 1GHZ processor and 512 MB of RAM. Good Luck!

Thanks for the feedback. It sounds like I'm better off using the 667 G4 Powerbook for recording. I just wanted to have the G3 as my dedicated recording device but by the time I get more RAM, a Firewire card, a soundcard and a processor upgrade I'd be better off using the money to get a decent USB or firewire input box for the Powerbook.....I just thought that a PCI soundcard would be more reliable.
