I'd like to buy me a sound module in the 100-150$ price range. I would like to have some decent bass, pads, leads and electric pianos. I don't need anything else.
What would you recommend me in that price range? The E-Mu racks like the Planet phatt or Proteus 1 seem to be quite good but I didn't find many demos of it. If you know any songs, demos... with those modules, I'd like to hear it!
Thanks!

if you're gonna get a PROTEUS module... don't get the original 1, 2 or 3 models... get either the 2000 or the 2500 model... at least those ones can accept expansion cards unlike the older E-MU stuff.

I recently copped a xv3080 for $250. the roland jv (jv2080 , jv1080) modules and xv (xv 3080 , xv 5080) modules are dirt cheap and are still damn good modules. check craigslist or ebay.

As for the emu proteus I've had the 2000 and loved it. I hate that I got rid of it in a fit to move to all software. got it for $200 on ebay as well. BTW the emu proteus is expandable with planet phat rom etc. better buy than other emu modules as my man said above.

yeah , i have the proteus 2000 as well and really love the sound... i've added the extreme lead and phatt expansions so far and am in the process of filling the last expansion slot with the beat garden so it'll be all maxed out.

just fyi... i actually have two proteus 2000s and am currently trying to sell the extra one in the classifieds section of this forum as i have no need for 2 of them...

best bang for buck would be the yamaha tz81z for around $50 - great basses, pads and pianos/organs.

but i'd probably go with one the roland units. the tx is a **** to programme.

Thanks for all the replies!
And what about the Planet phatt, I heard that Primo used it, does it sound good?

If you can get hold of a Planet Phatt/Turbo Phatt then do so.

You will not regret it.
