Why can I can only ctrl external devices with midi output A?

This could be a dumb question to many of you, but unfortunately I've followed every step on page 52 of the manual and still can't control anything through midi socket B.

I'm trying to control Logic VSTs on midi output A, and am trying to control a Microkorg synth with midi socket B.

Both will only work when I plug their respective midi cords into midi output socket A.

In other words, midi output A is the only socket that seems to be working.

Any ideas why this could be?

Also, FYI, I am using JJOSXL version 1.23.

Did you scroll the MIDI out to 1B for example? Not exactly clear from your post.

Yep I tried 1B (as well as 1C and 1D)

Possible hardware issue then? Not sure how you'd check that though...

Upgrade to 1.41+ and see if that fixes ur prob. Might be related in some way?

Ive got the same setup, except im running jjos2 not xl - and can confirm its possible. Ill try to help you through it

sounds like you misunderstood neartao, 1B refers to MIDI output B channel 1, there is no C and D, because there is not MIDI out C and D.

On jjos2 to set the midi out for a track, go to main screen, hove the highlight(cursor) over to the text 'MIDI' Change from 'OFF' to '1B'

Of course there's MIDI outputs C & D on a 2500. Did I miss if he said somewhere he's on a 1000?

ah, I ALWAYS forget this section was merged with the 2500 jjos section.
