I'm thinking about getting an MPC but I don't know what kind to get a new school or old school. I was thinking about getting Akai MPC 2000XL but don't know if its worth getting an older version. :?:

well the model depends on you and what you already have in your rig.

If you dont have anything at all but you have the cash to spend.... maybe go for a nice 2500 or a 1000. if you like being able to pop batteries in the machine and use it outside more then some of the 2500 features then grab a 500.

there is not really a straight answer to which model is the best because they all have pros and cons and it is up to you on what you need or want.

Go new man. Or if you go 2kxl, mordernize that b!tch with a card reader and go for it. But without usb, you miss out on a lot of techniques offered with that feature, so there you have it.
