Press mode then program button on mpc. Then select the usb tab and select it. Press the mount button. On the mac just navigate the you disk drives on the mac amd look for the mpc.

it worked, thank you!

one more question, i dragged everything into the hard drive, how do i use everything i dragged in now?

i pressed mode then pad 3 (disk) where i can see everything, just not sure how to get all the sounds to plasy now

You still have to load the sounds into the MPC's memory.

If you dumped everything at the top level of the drive, you'll have to load each sound/program individually. No good!

Instead, dump all that data into a folder... then access it via DISK MODE -> LOAD. Just highlight the folder and load it -- which will load all of the sounds/programs/seqs inside the folder in one swoop.

alrite so i organized all the files i need to dump onto it into one folder on the hard drive :D

went to mode/disk and hit load on that folder, but now where do i go to play all the new sounds? would it come up when im flipping through "programs" on the "main" screen? because im still only seeing the original sounds that came with the mpc

sorry if these sound like stuid q's, im new at this machine but thanks guys i rly appreciate the help!

If there were programs in that folder, flip through Programs on the main screen. If it was just wavs, TRIM MODE will give you access for editing. Or PROGRAM MODE will allow you to create a new program and start assigning samples.

they were wavs. would converting them to a different format before dumping them to the mpc make it easier? if so, which format do you recommend? way to many to edit individually on the mpc

still having trouble. damn this machine is frustrating :x

flipping through the different samples when creating a new program, im still only seeing the original ones and not wat i dumped into it. i think it still has sumthing to do with the saving and loading proccess, because when i try to it never seems to work. the manual says to choose the sample to save in the "item" field, but the only things to choose from in "item" is the ones that came with the machine.. also do i have to do all of these individually? cuz the folders like arnt saving i hav no clue wat im doin wrong

In addition to dropping the files onto the MPCs drive, you have to load that folder of wavs so they will be in internal memory (ie, RAM). Then try it. The files you're seeing in the item field are the samples that are currently LOADED, not a list of all the samples on the hard drive.

Load the folder via MODE+PAD3+F2... make sure the folder is selected and you're not inside of it. Press F6 to load the folder...and make sure that you're loading it with samples (see screen messages).

Only after the files loaded into memory (RAM) will they be accessible for inclusion in a program.

wow...so i just spent a lottt of time assigning the hundreds of sounds to pads individually and when i turned the mpc back on later none of them saved. this machine is garbage.

i know! what am i missing? ive done everything tht everyone has suggested and also followed the manual. i have no problem loading everything in and assigning each one to pads but every time i make a new program and assign them, its like i cant turn the machine off or ill lose everything i did. ridiculus!

first off you gotta *READ THE MANUAL*, it will explain everything. You have to have some patience to sun, Rome wasn't built in a day. you got a 5000, yo some cats don't even have an mpc, and here you go complaining :? Your on the internet, go on you-tube and punch up *mpc 5000 beat making video's*. BE-EASY
