S950 + MPC 60

Hello, I just picked up a S950 and recognized that it cannot read my mpc 60 disks, is there a way to do it, is it impossible or is the floppy drive damaged?

I don't know about the disk format/file system itself, but from what I can remember I'm pretty certain you can't load any program or sample files from the 60 on the S950 or the other way around. The structure and parameters differs and even the wave data I think. But I might be wrong.

Edited: Try formatting a blank disc on the S950 and try saving some programs on it. If that works it's obviously not broken..

what os do you have on the 60?

I ve got 0S 3.10 . I formatted a disk succesfully. but didnt try to save a sound yet. I think the drive is working well.

Another question: Do you do something like resampling on your mpc60/3000? The sound of the samples often sounds the way I want it to after I heavily used the eq. now goin on like this it takes a mixer track for every sound. thats to much. Is there a common way to resample on both, the mpc60 and the s950 ?

Back to the floppy problems, I opened the s950 for cleaning the floppy drive, I cleaned it, but a little spring which was loose fall out, is there any picture of an opened drive so I can see where it belongs?

Look as you probally figured out already there is no resample option, so what would be the most common practice to resample something?

I would say ur spring comes from the insert floppy mechanic part.

I do not know how to explain it to you but the mechanic is as far as a I know inside the diskdrive and i never opened one. Maybe try to google a generic diskdrive design?

I just found it out : its the screw that closes the cover of the disc hole . but i still have no idea how to get it in

The S950 only had problems with saving data on 2HD floppies the DD FLoppies of my MPC60 work well. I thought i can do it on HD as well, I dont know why the text on the floppy says 2HD i didnt find anything in the internet concerning 2HD instead of HD floppies.

hd floppies don't work in some older drives, if you can try taping over the hd hole in the bottom right corner, or get some dd floppies

I know about that, I already have 200 DD discs, I just thought the s950 can work with HD , this is at least what I read in the internet.

If you read page 50 of the s950 manual it states that you can use HD floppies.
I use them without issue.

the floppy i tried was a 2HD floppy and it didnt work. I dont know if there is a difference between HD and 2HD.
