Do you have friends that make beats?

im doing it solo dolo down here...except for one cat that i know casually. he makes "keyboard" rap beats using the FL8 demo...havent heard from him in awhile tho

Yeah my two closest friends make beats (one of them taught me how to use the mpc years ago... he's just now coming off a long hiatus to make beats again). The other one is producer / emcee like me. we share a lot a production tips and tricks. He was the one that i learned a lot from on choppin and sampling. we have very similar studios and build on all kinds of production / sound design / engineering stuff. its real dope to have close homie that produces and has similar production tastes. we challenge one another without knowing it. he makes some dope shit... im back in the lab inspired and vice versa

There's alot of people that make beats where I live, but most just use the same drum sequence over random synth sounds, I don't think they know what a good beat is. I tried to teach them the simple basics, but damn, they get these attitudes like "NO, I DO IT MY WAY!" so I say "good, go **** yourself".

There was one kid whose father bought him a Yamaha MM6. After 2 weeks with it, out of the blue he's telling everyone that so and so's producer heard his music and that he's getting signed and that in 3 month his record is coming out. It was funny because people believed him and were hanging out with him, buying him weed thinking he's gonna get rich and sh!t. But after a year of bullsh!t, it began to stank and everybody kicked the piss out of him, even the girls. Today, he's still doing stupid sh!t like that. He goes to spots to buy weed and then goes to school telling people he's working for a big time dealer who's his homie and that he's selling weed for him. Well, word got out that he was selling on this cat's territory and the dude got his ass kicked some more.

Apparently he's not getting kicked enough.

rofl magix music maker was the stuff, I initially was introduced to it when I was 12 back in 97 with our first pc computer purchase. the name was stuck in my head thru all these years, and it 2005 I decided to look for it on torrentz and sure found it. arranging premade loops I really thought I was making some decent techno music or whatever it was

it's always a beautiful thing when you find someone (or a group of someones) who click together musically. when you get to that point where you have your own vocabulary, it's great.

i'm doubly blessed in that i have periodic access to my friend's very nice studio in the city, and that we all have similar overlaps in musical taste.
