How to overdub with a keyboard without midi ?

When connecting keyboard to MPC with midi you can play and loop. Then when you turn off the keyboard everything you playd with keyboard trough midi is gone (exept when you turn on the keyboard again offcourse). My turntable is connected directly in RECORD IN to the MPC for sampling/ chopping.

What i really want is connect everything -like technics / keyboard / guitar / mic for vocals or drums- on my mixer and then find a way to play this like when it is connected to midi but then without the midi, so if i turn off the mixer everything stays. Especially for the keyboard this would be important because when you play al little piece for looping this would be much much easier for not go trough trim function for this.

Has someone an awnser or alternative solution for this ? (and please, dont say use a pc)

I use the 2000 with a MicroKorg. Also an Akai DPS 16 but for mastering.
I also had this problem with my MCP 1000 (in combo with Korg X5).

but if u are looking to retain your performance with having to turn everything back on then you should record your performance as u play... u cant record live into a 2k or 2kxl... no way to make that happen so what u have to do is do the initial beat, record it and if u really want, export that track back into your mpc... kind of alot to do but if u need to work like this then thats what has to happen...

if your recorder has multi inputs then utilize those and save settings... much easier to track out mpc, keyboard, guitar and such....

you could get yourself a bigger mixer (im assuming you dont have one with alot of jacks) and instead of running your turntable into the record in jacks on the MPC, you can have the "OUT" jacks from the mixer running into the "RECORD IN" and then just jack all your gear into the mixer and run it that way.

I know it may seem like alot but thats the easiest thing to do (in my limited experience) to get the results you are looking for.

as long as his tt mixer has 2 sets of outputs this would work perfectly... one set going to his mpc and the other going to his mixer (i have mines set up like this). but i think his issue is with sampling his performance which if u dont own a newer mp is next to impossible since u can play back a track while sampling let alone a midi track...

ahhh, i got cha. i have yet to advance to a TT yet, im still a padawan & digi dig for the moment till skill can justify me spending money on a Table

Is there another MPC model you can record live in ?

yes... any model from a 1k to 5k

the 1000/2500 need software updates (jjos) and i think u get up to 8 tracks of live audio.. check the jjos section of the forums. itll plug up with tons of info...

ive been eying a 1k or 2500 for some time myself because of that ability..

Just read the mpc 2500 manual and it works on this machine, it is called DIRECT RECORDING
