"Man's Creations Have No Soul" is equally true...

So where's the soul in drum sticks, drums, instruments or anything else.

I say we go back to grunting and banging rocks together... that's where the real soul in music is.

Of course drum machines have no soul, its a **** machine made of plastic and metal. Did you expect to sit it down on your desk and talk about War and Peace? NO! The soul is within the musician that makes these machines so funky. A saxaphone is a hunk of brass with no soul either, but within the grasp of John Coltrane it tells a story about life and death.

As I said it before, I'll say it again. The soul of the musician is the ghost in the machine.

A drum machine got about as much "soul" as any other instrument. All about what you do with it, the "soul" is inflicted by the person using it, not by an inanimate object or the material it was built of.

True indeed! That quote sent me back to my sax playing days. Those days I played on a Selmer tenor w/ a Berg Larsen mouthpiece and all.

Oh how I remember my Tanglewood/Stockbridge, Mass. days like it was yesterday. Being tutored by a world class saxophonist by the name of Harvey Pittel http://www.harveypittel.com/ was the sh!t.
