Hey guy - Good to see you hadn't forgotten about this.

Have you dropped Mac support though? - I remember the early versions were cross platform - but this seems to be a Windows only executable?

Hi MCL,

Thanks for pointing this out, I haven't dropped mac support, but I had forgotten that I do need to release another file so you can use it on a mac. As before, I don't have a mac so I can't test it, but I will try and get that out tomorrow.

Cheers Guy - I'll download it when you get it sorted. As before (two years ago - has it been that long?) i'll have a look at the Mac version and get back to you with any problems.

Thanks again

EDIT: - I just realised - if it is still written under Java - changing the .exe file extension to .jar on the Mac effectively allows the Mac to open it.

I can confirm it loads fine under Mac OS 10.6.4 (Snow Leopard) if you do this.

Will need some time to fart around with it before saying it works as it should however - just having a noodle with it now...

Just a heads up for those using a MAC on the boards and are interested in this app.

Wow I am suprised that worked but ok! I'll sort out an "official" mac download once you give me the ok on functionality (since it works it isn't super urgent).

The reason to try it is the patched phrase editing, this lets you create a "tempo synced" slice. So if you put chops every 16th and save as a patched phrase to the mpc, then whatever speed the mpc sequencer is running, the chops will play on the 16's. I aim to do a little tutorial at some point, but loading the example wave onto the mpc should demonstrate how it works.

Cockos Reaper has an unlimited trial licence (most people like it and buy it, but some checky so and so's just use it for free lol) and it is a DAW that is on par with Pro Tools, Cubase, FL Studio and so on (the reason i am recomending Reaper above other 'decent DAWs is because it's free).

Anyway to cut a long story short it is very good for beat chopping, it has very advanced and easy to use time stretching and its very easy and quickly make a 3bar loop (of you'r own or time stretch and edit 1 to fit 3bars from an old record) then slice to the 1/4 bar (giving you 12 equal slices) export to wav is simple and does not take long if you highlight each samp and export via time selection to 16bit bit depth ovcourse.

Maybe i'm just quick on Reaper? but on average it takes me about 25 seconds to drop, chop and export a 3 bar loop to 12 equal 1/4 bar wavs.

Reaper also does a lot more then the basic funtion of beat sliceing its a full blown DAW.

Only down side is that it is not a simple program it will take you a long time to lern (but its worth it).

To be honest though i prefer to chop by ear using only the MPC500, I study music at collage and wer're on computers all day so for me it's refreshing to come home use hardware instead of a computer.
