Without giving the whole scheme away...
1. You connect your midi keyboard to a midi input on your MPC.
2. You connect a midi cable from your MPC midi out to your computer's midi interface.
3. You then set Ableton (or other DAW) to receive midi from your MPC via your computer's midi interface.
4. On your MPC track set the midi destination to midi out port used in step two.
5. All midi from your keyboard is now routed THRU your MPC track so you may record into the MPC sequencer or Ableton.
Using this method, your MPC must be switched on if you wish to enter midi to the Ableton sequencer. But if your midi keyboard has a USB connection you can use this to enter notes in Ableton when your MPC is still turned off.
Give it a try and let us know how you get on.
Reading the manuals is obviously a good start, but as I've given it to you on a plate try to understand how it [midi] works and how it can pass THRU other devices.
