i think it would be more useful if it locked a loop on/off (shift +pad & the sample loops indefinitely. hit the pad again and it stops playing) instead of note repeat, so you can use the mpc as a more traditional looper.

yeah, there is that 'numeric button' trick, but using the shift button would be so much easier.

You on XL yet sooty? Damn... I thought I found a way to work the Loop NUMERIC button thing while it was set to the numeric mode thing, but I just tried it and couldn't get it to work. What would really be great is if you could set how shift effects each pad. This is best case of course, but if you could have each pad set to it's own -either loop a sample or repeat at 1/8th or 1/16th... Or just a way to switch between looping or repeating. Damn, anyone ever get the loop to work with the mode /numeric setting

seems to be alimited function for the moment :

If a pad is hit holding the PAD BANK button, loop playback of the sample will be carried out and the pad will be held.
A loop playback is continued until a pad is hit once again.
For example, the sample assigned to PAD A01 if PAD1 is hit holding the button of PAD BANK A will continue loop playback until a pad is hit once again.
The sample assigned to PAD B01 if PAD1 is hit holding the button of PAD BANK B will continue loop playback until a pad is hit once again.
This function works only with the main screen.

Well JJ explanations and video are not clear.
He should have used some non percussive samples for his demonstration.

it's good that he added this. this is a big request from a lot of people and some people that are considering getting an mpc ask about if this function is possible both here & on other forums.

only thing that is not clear from the video is if you can do this with multiple pads (have more than one pad looping at the same time)? i hope so.

i'm still on os 2 by the way. don't plan on using 2xl but i couldn't resist commenting!

ok, I did it for you with this mode/num setting on 1.41. Use the next seq or track mute button while holding a pad, works the same, as numeric button trick, plus the cursor can be anywere.
I watched the video and it didn't show multiple sounds playing together, but I suppose it was only a little show.
I just upgraged xl from 1.29 because I read on his site he finnally enabled "loop edit mode" known better as 4x4 input, the only one thing I missed from os2. Now, it's time for me to exchange my poor jog wheel

Yep seems to be 1 loop at a time in that video.
Maybe 2 if you can use the B bank?
