What Mixer should I buy?

I've got a 2000XL last week (I had a 500 before but it's full of bugs and I like the features of the 2000XL)
Now I have some questions:
There are 8 Outs installed when I bought it. What kind of mixer do I need to connect it to my computer ?
There are so many mixers but I won't buy something shitty so I need the help of you experts here
Is Pro Tools the "Non-Plus-Ultra" program for recording or has it some problems with Win XP?
Also i don't know whether I can connect a Zip Drive (It was also in the package^^) to my Computer AND my Mpc cause I don't have SCSI on my computer (Maybe there are adapters or something like this? I haven't found anything)

You won't be able to connect the SCSI zip to your computer....buy a usb zip off ebay.

I wouldn't stress the 8 out board at this point...just use the stereo outs to your monitors. You can make the choice down the road if you'd rather buy a small analog mixer for monitoring/mixing or an interface into something like pro tools.

OK I look after a USB ZIP ... Hm I want only to record my sequences live into my computer ... I hate to work on my computer so I think I would like a little mixer where I can mix my beat while recording to my computer

the 8 outs can help with mixing (separate eq's for the channels).

What's your budget for a mixer? Mackie's got some nice 12 channels with USB bus (you'd plug the usb into the computer and could record the mixdown from the mpc's outputs) this would be a good option if you're not looking to learn cubase/pro tools.

Honestly when I first got my mpc I just recorded into the line in on my computer for a while. it didn't sound the best but it got the job done. The built in mixer is good for levels and panning.

Hmm I think 300 - max. 500 € ... Ok thats also nice if I could mix each channel like i want ... Can I use Mackies without Pro Tools ? I've heard that M-Audio and Mackie would only work with it ? At the Moment I record into my Mpc 500 but its **** up .. I cant mix .. I cant do anything while recording ^^ If I buy a keyboard or turntables or something like this (Not now but maybe next year if I can handle the mpc) how many channels do I need then ? Are 12 enough ? Oh and I want Effects on the mixer So I can make some crazy shit ^^ You have an idea what I should buy ? Oh and what cable do I need to connect the 8 Outs ? ^^

It's got 4 Mono and 4 Stereo channels. You should shop around/research before dropping that kinda money.

I don't think you'll need Pro Tools...any digital mixer with usb should probably install as an audio driver then you can use Goldwave or something to record the input.

I've found it's also useful to have the stereo outs connected to your mixer. With a 12 channel mixer you could do something like.......

6 mono drum channels - individual outs 1-6
2 stereo channels for samples - individual outs 7-8 and mpc stereo outs

^ thats 10 channels total...you would have 2 free for whatever else you want to connect to the mixer.
